Business Development Manager - Bolton


Training Sales & New Business

Bolton – travelling across the North West

Job Purpose:

Due to expansion of our training offer this role is needed to drive sales, new business (direct customers) and business development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a competent and knowledgeable sales professional to create and maintain excellent relationships with new and existing clients. With a keen interest in the sector, you will join an expanding organisation at grass roots level.

This multi-faceted role has 3 defined areas of responsibility: -

  • - Training Sales and Co-ordination
  • - New Business (direct customers)
  • - Business Development (new areas of training)
You will be responsible for:
  • - Driving volume and developing business
  • - Individual sales target
  • - Developing relationships
  • - Increase awareness of our training services in the area and relevant sectors
  • - Working alongside the Training Manager to provide information to customers on course availability and advertising our open course calendar with them – which can mean providing late deals and pricing updates too
  • - Developing relationships with currently un-engaged existing customers
  • - Identify growth areas
  • - Co-ordinating enquiries from start to finish – respond to enquiries and provide relevant information on courses leading to booking
  • - Promote training and provide full information on training courses, consultancy services and NVQ’s
  • - Ensure all accreditation’s standards are adhered to and met continually by the centre
  • - Providing support to the Directors and conduct additional ad hoc duties as and when required
  • - Communicate effectively and support the team
  • - Attend training to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills and independently develop skills as applicable.
  • - Any other ad hoc duties that are felt reasonable to fulfil the Job Description.

Skills & Qualities

We are looking for someone who is also personable over the phone, providing great customer service but also a tactfully assertive account manager when required:

  • - Able to develop effective and productive working relationships with direct customers and third-party training providers
  • - Knowledge of Industry Training; CITB, NVQ’s, CMI, First Aid, etc
  • - Manage customer disputes
  • - Excellent communication skills & time management skills
  • - Ability to create and maintain business networks/relationships
  • - Analytical and strategic thinking
  • - Attention to detail
Desirable Experience
  • - Knowledge of current legislation around Training and Skills compliance in accordance with individual accrediting bodies and National Standards.
  • - Commitment to ongoing learning and up-skilling to ensure deep understanding of relevant industry initiatives and changes to legal, compliance and candidate based Skills Development.
  • - Ability to achieve shared goals
  • - Strong interpersonal skills
  • - Commercially aware and focused on results driven process
  • - Training Provider experience, preferably within the Health and Safety sector
  • - Excellent communication skills both written and spoken
  • - Ability to work under pressure
  • - Team working experience
  • - Financial management/cash handling experience
